Dillo continues to explore the interplay between light and material in her recent body of work: Pearlescents. These works are made with pearlescent acrylic ink on archival paper. The use of a calligraphy dipping pen demands the full focus of the artist, a meditation of being present in the activity of mark-making - any wrong move means starting over. The pieces shift and change in appearance as the viewer moves in relationship to the light source. Sometimes shiny, sometimes matte, these works require time to experience them in their full and subtle potential.
